Third Tuesday Recap

We hope to see you all tonight!  Tuesday, November 27th from 5pm to 8pm at Quiltworks for our bonus sew date for the month.  See the last post for information about a fun, quick ornament project to make if you so choose.

We had a great meeting at the Stitchin Post last week.  Considering Thanksgiving was a couple of days away, we're glad so many folks could make it!

The front and back of Aura's rocketship quilt:

And her beautiful bed quilt made with a tutorial from Fresh Lemons Quilts:

Kayla, Christy, and Lindsey all made blocks to contribute to a quilt for an upcoming auction.  Kayla sashed it and showed off the finished top:

And Christy showed us her quilt made from a pattern in Quilting Modern that just needs a binding.

Extra Sew date for November!

Our extra sew date for November is the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, November 27th, at Quiltworks.  5pm to 8pm.

To get in the holiday spirit, we will be sewing some tree ornaments, using this tutorial from noodlehead.  If you want to, you can sew one of your own!  Here's what you will need to bring along.

You bring/buy at Quiltworks:
  • wool felt for the big tree background (at least 4 in by 8 in)
  • fabric for the tree (about 3 in by 3 in: little scraps work great!)
  • thread
I'll bring:
  • freezer paper and the tree template
  • fiberfill for the stuffing
  • yarn for the ornament string
  • a bunch of holiday fabric scraps

Featured Member for November....

Kayla Herriman

How long have you been quilting.....  about five years.

Favoirte fabric desinger.... Michael Miller and Alexander Henry.

You'll most likely find me...... sewing little things together

I learned to sew from...... my grandma, but I learned to quilt in grad school from a book and a pattern.

My favorite place to shop is........ QuiltWorks, because of the wonderful ladies in there. However, I do love a good trip to Redmond and Sisters.

My current project......  I think this means projects.  I have a few.... I just finished with Elizabeth Hartman's Tokyo Subway in a Kayla color scheme.  Also, I am working on a Dear Jane quilt.... which I hope will be finished very soon!
