New from Craftsy...

A little bird told me at Quilters' Affair in Sisters this year that we may be able to find some fun new classes on Craftsy soon.......

...... guess what they are here!!    Elizabeth Hartman has two clases on there and I can see that big orange word below has already caught your eye.    Yes, one of them is FREE!

Go to cratsy.com to find out more

Here is the link to Elizabeth's other class as well.
http://www.craftsy.com/class/inspired-modern-quilts/109

What could be better than free?

Say hello to the Creative Quilt Backs class, and goodbye to featureless, boring backs! Unlike quilt tops, backs are often overlooked as an opportunity for increasing the intricacy and beauty of a quilt. Join renowned quiltmaker Elizabeth Hartman, and learn a smattering of techniques to make your quilt backs just as vibrant and appealing as your tops. This class is 100% free, so enroll today, and easily learn new quilting skills.

Make perfectly fitting backs every time with Elizabeth’s valuable equation. Quilters often avoid using lovely large-scale prints on their quilt backs because larger prints tend to show seams. Elizabeth will teach you her glue stick trick to fearlessly match up large-scale prints for a seamless appearance.

She’ll also show you how to create a precisely pieced strip on the back of your quilt with designs echoed from the front. Next, Elizabeth will demonstrate a stash-buster technique to turn your scraps into textured quilt backs. Then, she’ll walk you step-by-step through choosing a theme or colorway, and using it as a guide for creating an improvised quilt back from stash fabric.

Finally, learn how to take a design from the front of your quilt and recreate it on the back as a gorgeous giant block.

COMQG + PMQG on display

We had such a great time at the QuiltWorks first Friday show!!!

Central Oregon Modern Quilt Guild is on display with Portland Modern Quilt Guild upstairs in the gallery.   The display will be up the entire month of August and we invite you all to check it out if you haven't already!

COMQG decided to do a challenge for this display and here's how it worked.   At one of our meetings we all picked a fat quarter of fabric for the shop and put them in a basket.  One of our members drew one out and that is what we all were to use in some way.

It turned out great!  Table runners, baby quilts, art quilts, aprons, pillowcases, coasters...... I think we all found a way to be creative.
