Today we're featuring the charity quilt challenge for QuiltCon. Check out this for more information.
It all started with the color palette given by the challenge. We ordered a bundle from The Intrepid Thread to get us started:
The challenge was to use an alternate grid (this concept is covered thoroughly in this MQG blog post), which is fun, but we also thought it would be fun to use blocks of different sizes. In the past we've done these group projects with random block sizes, but this time we chose certain sizes, but there's three sizes. Blocks will finish at 12 inches, 8.5 inches, and 5 inches. Based on this idea, Kayla drew up this sketch that is just amazing! We are using the cool colors (grey, blue, greens), for the large blocks and the teeny ones, and the warm colors (red, orange, yellow, purples) for the medium blocks. It should look great and really striking! All of our blocks will be a house of some kind.
then we cut up fabric for bundles, and have been distributing those bundles these last couple of weeks. If you haven't gotten a bundle and still want to make a block, contact Kayla. Bear in mind the due date for the blocks is coming up on the 20th of this month.
Some people have already made their blocks! We can't wait to see how they all come together.
