Meeting and Sew days Reminder

We have a really busy week ahead with guild gatherings! One meeting and two sew days. We have two sew days (well, technically one of them is a night), where we just get to sew, sew, sew!

We have our regularly-scheduled meeting on the third Tuesday.

Monday Sew Night
We have a sew day scheduled at BJ's Quilt Basket on Monday the 20th from 5pm to 8pm.

Third Tuesday Meeting
We'll have our guild meeting at Stitchin Post on Tuesday the 21st from 5pm to 8pm. Come in the back door, which is also the door to the classroom. As usual at our meetings, we'll have business at 6pm, but bring your sewing for the rest of the time.

--show and tell!
--ideas for tutorials. Volunteer or bring a suggestion.
--MQG Riley Blake Challenge due at our meeting Feb 4th. I'll bring my computer so we can post pictures to the MQG site forum that night if you want to be entered in the competition.
--get your strawberry churn dash blocks back to Lindsey by the end of February.  (I handed out kits at our first meeting this month)  This will be our first charity quilt for 2014, and it's going to Camp Erin, a children's grief camp.
--Ohio Star Made Modern Challenge due March 1st. Bring to the first meeting in March for photos.
--Upcoming in April and May: Ronald McDonald auction quilt, and a COMQG banner.

Saturday Sew Day
We have a sew day at Erin's on Saturday the 25th from 10:30am to 5pm. If you have RSVPed, we'll see you there! If you want to attend and haven't responded, please send Erin or the comqg an email to see if there is space left.

Central Oregon Classes

We are so lucky in Central Oregon! There are so many quilt shops that offer classes of all kinds. This time of year is the best for classes! We have teachers from all over the country (and world!) coming to Central Oregon to teach at the different shops.

WIP Wednesday

First up is Sabine's stars.

And Marilyn is showing Sarah G's Ohio Star in a Star block. Sarah used a COMQG favorite fabric: Quilters Linen!

Dates for your calendar

Feb 4th: bring your finished Riley Blake Challenge to the meeting

Feb 28th: finish your pink and strawberry churn dash block and return to Lindsey. Blocks will go into a quilt for Camp Erin, a grief camp for children.

March 1st: Finish your Ohio Star Made Modern quilt. If you have questions about this challenge, please visit this page here

March 4th: Bring your finished Ohio Star Made Modern quilt to the meeting for photographs.

Sometime in April: finish your blocks for the Ronald McDonald House auction quilt. Details will be coming once we have a theme and have fabric to distribute.

Sometime in May: finish your blocks for the COMQG banner. Details will be coming later with fabric and our cool colors- solid fabric theme.

Sew Days

Saturday, January 25th 10:30 to 5pm. Contact Erin W for more information and to RSVP if you haven't already.

We expect to schedule a Friday sew day at Bend Park and Recreation community room at Riverbend Park in the next couple of months with a charity sew portion.

We will have various sew days scheduled through the upcoming year: stay tuned for more information as they are scheduled.

Secretary Position

Email comqg @  hotmail.  com to submit your nomination. Sometime in the next couple of weeks, check your email for an online survey to vote for the new secretary. All members will get a link to the survey for voting.

Meeting Reminder: 2014 Planning

We're having our first meeting of 2014 on Tuesday! January 7th at 5pm at Quiltworks.

We have a lot to discuss, lots of planning and exciting things coming up this year. Since we will have more business time than normal, let's all bring hand work.

On the Agenda:

Challenge Deadlines. (Riley Blake Feb 4. That's in ONE MONTH!, and Ohio Star Made Modern on March 1.)

Charity opportunities. Bring your ideas! Kayla will be contacting Ronald McDonald house again for their charity auction.  And I'm planning on handing out block kits later this month for a quilt for a bereavement camp if you want to make a block! 

Tutorials. Bring your ideas! Katy will be organizing some tutorials/technique discussion/demonstrations for our meetings in the upcoming year. Maybe you have a skill to share? or maybe you want someone to demonstrate something specific?

Banner. We need to make a COMQG banner with our new logo! Come to the meeting for information about how to participate. 

Sew Days! we have one planned sew day this month, and some ideas for future dates and locations. These sew days will be in addition to the regularly scheduled meetings, and will just be for sewing with your COMQG friends!

Secretary Position. you should have received an email asking for nominations for our vacant secretary position. Nominate yourself or someone else who is awesome! Stay tuned to your email for a web survey when elections are held later this month.
