Happy New Year!

We have two meetings in January, the first and third Tuesdays: 

Tuesday, January 5th, from 5pm to 8pm at Quiltworks in Bend. 

We'll start the agenda at 6pm.

Tuesday, January 18th, 5pm to 8pm at Stitchin' Post in Sisters.

We'll start the agenda at 6pm.

At meetings, we have a lot of social sewing time, so bring a project to work on. At our Quiltworks meetings, it's best to bring some handwork as space can be limited. 

Also bring along: 

drinks or dinner for yourself if you'll be hungry or thirsty

show and tell items. We love to see your projects!

on Wednesday, January 13th, we have a Sew Night at Sew Many Quilts.

From 4pm to 8pm, all you have to do is sew your little heart out. just bring your project and machine and use the Sew Many Quilts classroom. 

This week and Next

This week, we have a Sew night at Sew many Quilts, Wednesday December 9th 4 to 8pm.

Bring your sewing machine or whatever project, and just sew your little heart out!

Next week we'll have our holiday gathering at Dogwood Cocktail Cabin, downtown Bend, Tuesday December 15th at 5pm. Look for us upstairs.

Bring show and tell and come join us!

Dues are due this month! 2016 Member dues, $25, are due to the treasurer before the end of the year. This is so we can pay our dues to the Modern Quilt Guild by the beginning of 2016.

Meeting Recap

We had a great meeting at the Stitchin' Post last week.

It was our Cool Colors challenge due date, and we saw some beautiful quilts! Yesterday, I submitted our group exhibit application for the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show.

We also saw our quilted (Thanks Corni!) QuiltCon charity quilt, which will be taken and displayed at QuiltCon West in February 2016, and donated here locally next year. Kristin has led this project, with the improv feather design tutorial, and assembling the top, and she will attach the binding.

UFO Challenge
This is the second month of the UFO (unfinished object) challenge. Remember, to participate in this challenge all you have to do is make a list of 10 unfinished objects that you're working on. Feel free to join in at any time! Each month we'll draw a number and that's the project in your list to finish by the next month. We do the reveals for finished projects and the drawing for the next month at the Third Tuesday meeting.

Each finished project will get you a ticket to a final drawing for great prizes at the end of the challenge. Bring your finished project to the grand finale and get an additional ticket.

Due at the Third Tuesday Meeting in November: Project #7. This due date was extended until the Third Tuesday meeting in December. We'll be meeting at Dogwood Cocktail Cabin for this meeting.

2016 Board
The nominating committee met and gathered input and nominations from the guild. We'll vote on these nominations at the First Tuesday Meeting in December.

First Tuesday meeting at Quiltworks in Bend

Sew day at Sew Many Quilts in Bend
Wednesday, December 9th, 4pm to 8pm.
Just come for all or part of the time and do some sewing!

Third Tuesday meeting at Dogwood Cocktail Cabin in Bend.
Tuesday December 15th, 5pm to 8pm.
We will enjoy our holiday tradition of gathering at Dogwood in Downtown Bend for our Third Tuesday meeting this month only.
Bring your UFO finished projects #7 and #5, and any other show and tell.

In January we will resume First Tuesdays at Quiltworks, and Third Tuesdays at Stitchin Post. Stay tuned for information about a sew day (or night) in January.

Meeting Reminder

If you are unable to attend, and would like to be included in our challenge exhibit, and you haven't already, please send Lindsey a photo, including your Quilt Name, and the quilt measurements in inches. I'll be submitting our Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show Special Exhibit application, complete with all the quilts in the exhibit, on Wednesday. 

Carpool!

If you'd like to carpool out to the Stitchin' Post from Bend,a few folks are gathering at Sew Many Quilts parking lot at 4:50pm tomorrow to carpool out to the Stitchin' Post.

We'll do our nominations and voting on board members at our first meeting next month. Tuesday, December 1st, from 5pm to 8pm at Quiltworks.

Remember your nametag as we have another Stitchin' Post gift card as a door prize to give away to members who are wearing their nametags!

Also bring your sewing machine, sewing project, dinner, knitting, whatever you want to work on, or just come to hang out!

COMQG Celebrates 5 Years!

On Tuesday, November 3rd, from 5pm to 7pm, we'll be celebrating COMQG's 5 year anniversary where it all began for us, at Quiltworks in Bend. 

Come for sweet treats and mingling, and see our 2015 Gee's Bend Inspired challenge quilts hanging in the gallery. 

At 6pm, we'll have a couple of announcements and introductions, and also show and tell! 

If you want to participate in show and tell, bring along one quilt (or picture of a quilt, or a quilt story) that shows your early work. For some of us this might be the first quilt you ever made, or a quilt that you think shows your transition to a more modern aesthetic. 

Everyone is invited! Bring a friend! Help spread the news! We'd love to see current members, past members, or just anyone who is interested in our guild!

Don't forget to bring:

1) your nametag! You need your nametag to be entered in the drawing for door prizes, and this month Stitchin' Post generously donated us a gift card! 

2) a sewing project or something to work on.

4) a list of Works in Progress (WIPs) or Unfinished Objects (UFOs) to participate in the challenge that Sara is organizing. come to the meeting (or read Sara's email) for more information.
