Meet the Maker - Kayla H

Kayla has been a member of our guild since the beginning (October 2010).

Kayla started quilting 14 years ago while in graduate school.

Her favorite sewing is "monochromatic sheets" of patchwork to use in her quilts.
They often become large scale traditional blocks that resemble a barn quilt.

Kayla loves the history of quilting and always tries to find quilt museums or exhibits with quilts when on vacation.  Her favorite so far: Between the Layers: Art and Story in Tennessee Quilts, displayed at the  Tennessee State Museum.

She sews and quilts on her domestic machine, a Juki TL.

Someday she hopes to finish a hand pieced and hand quilted bed quilt.

First Tuesday February Meeting, 2018

Our first Tuesday meeting is Tuesday, February 6th at Quilt Works in Bend!

Meeting starts at 5:00 pm with business starting at 6:00 pm.

Jill Monley will be teaching us the Gail Garber method of curved flying geese.  If you want to do this, please bring:

pencil with sharp point (mechanical works great)
eraser
small straight edge ruler (6" or other easy to maneuver/small straight edge - does not need marks on it)
notepad or paper for taking notes

Also, don't forget our other monthly activities (optional):

- Skill Builder Challenge, bring your log cabin block to share
- Fat Quarter Drawing, bring a warm colored fat quarter of your choosing

Lorraine will be bringing many options for medallion books and also her colors palate for her challenge quilt to share. If you have your fabrics (or the start of what you are using) bring it with you to share!

Bring hand work to work on throughout the meeting. We hope you can join us!
