We had a great meeting Tuesday night! We even had a couple of new people join us for this meeting. We love having guests!
We discussed some additional ideas for tutorials/discussions/sharing at upcoming meetings. Katy is compiling these ideas and coming up with a plan for when we'll have demos and discussions at upcoming meetings.
--splitting up into small groups and rotating stations during tutorials/demos. We could even use different parts of the shop to make it easier to hear and have more space.
--everyone wants to have a machine binding tutorial from Christy!
--discussion about labeling and documenting the quilts you make
--discussion about fabric storage and your sewing space at home. I was inspired by this idea and I'm going to start a new series on the blog about our members and their sewing spaces.
--discussion about how to sandwich/baste your quilts.
--discussion about what exactly is Modern Quilting.
Things we're looking forward to:
--COMQG Sew day this saturday! RSVP to Erin if you'd like to attend
--Seeing everyone's completed Riley Blake Challenge at our first meeting in February, Tuesday the 4th at 5pm at Quiltworks in Bend.
--Kayla is contacting all people who were nominated for Secretary and will be emailing the survey to guild members for voting.
--Kayla is looking into scheduling a Friday sew day at Bend Park and Recreation in March.
--Kayla is finalizing her plans for the blocks we'll all make for the COMQG banner. She'll be distributing fabric to use in February.
--Lindsey is receiving blocks for the Strawberry Churn Dash quilt for Camp Erin. If you got a kit, please return to her by the end of February.
--Susan is looking into planning a sew day for us in February. If you have any ideas, please contact her to help out.
If there's some activity you think would be fun for the guild to do: a sew day, a charity, a project, a challenge, then we'd love for you to take the lead on it! Please work with the board as you plan your activity.
