COMQG Banner

This week for Work in Progress Wednesday, we're highlighting the blocks we are all making for the COMQG Banner.

Kayla has been handing out bundles of cool, solid (or near-solid) fabrics for us to make blocks that will surround a printed COMQG Logo. The banner will be quilted, and will be our guild representation at future quilt shows and guild events.

Everyone who is a member should make a block, or a few! Be a part of COMQG history! You have until June 3rd to get the blocks to Kayla. Since they're just little 6.5 inch blocks, you can whip one up in no time!

Here's some of the fabrics.

Video Thursday!

UPDATE/CORRECTION:

The video we watched was Alabama Public Television: Quiltmakers of Gee's Bend

On Thursday the 29th, Christy has invited guild members to her house for a video night and desert. Bring a sweet treat to share, and we will be watching the PBS documentary, The Quilts of Gee's Bend. We're particularly excited because we'll be seeing the Gee's Bend Quilts at Quiltcon next year.

Please come join us! Check your email for information, and if you have any questions, shoot the guild an email.

See ya there!

Ronald McDonald House

Last year we donated a quilt to the Ronald McDonald House here in Central Oregon. http://www.rmhcofcentraloregon.org

They auctioned it off to help raise funds for the house. It was such a fun collaboration we decided to do it again.

Thanks to all our members for helping out!

The Power of Collaboration: Cotton + Steel

What if you had a business pitch that you thought was epic.  You got four of your peers together to collaborate and make it happen?  You developed five different lines of fabric that worked cohesively together.  Well that's what Melody Miller has been up to with her friends:

They are getting ready to launch a new division of RJR Fabrics called Cotton + Steel this May 15th!

This ten minute video will inspire, tempt, and move you.  Even if you're not buying this line; it's a great story of possibilities realized and the strength and power of collaboration.

All five lines are available for pre-order through PinkCastleFabrics.
You can see a sneak peek of the folded fabric on Instagram #sneakpeekfriday

Does your creative process involve collaboration?
How might you use creative feedback?
Who would you be most excited to work with?

Maybe you should ask someone today!
